The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen vol.1

Title: The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen
Genre: Superhero
Story: Alan Moore
Art: Kevin O'Neill
Publisher: Wildstorm/DC Comics
Year: 1999-2000
Issues: 01-06 of 06
Rate: 89/100

PROMO: "A sharp-witted gloss on the scientific and sexual obsessions of Victorian society."—TIME"Moore has combined his love of 19th-century adventure literature with an imaginative mastery of its 20th-century corollary, the superhero comic book."—PUBLISHERS WEEKLY"Swashbuckling, wry humor."—SPINLondon, 1898. The Victorian Era draws to a close and the twentieth century approaches. It is a time of great change and an age of stagnation, a period of chaste order and ignoble chaos. It is an era in need of champions. In this amazingly imaginative tale, literary figures from throughout time and various bodies of work are brought together to face any and all threats to Britain. Allan Quatermain, Mina Murray, Captain Nemo, Dr. Henry Jekyll and Edward Hyde and Hawley Griffin, the Invisible Man, form a remarkable legion of intellectual aptitude and physical prowess: The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.

Black Orchid

Title: Black Orchid
Genre: Superhero
Story: Neil Gaiman
Art: Dave McKean
Publisher: DC Comics
Year: 1991 as TPB (as tree-part mini-series - 1988)
Pages: 160
Rate: 92/100

PROMO: From one of the most highly recognised and award winning comic writers on the scene today, Neil Gaiman (Sandman, Death, Violent Cases), and his sometime collaborator, innovative artist Dave McKean (Arkham Asylum, Cages, Violent Cases) comes a haunting and stylish exploration of birth, death and renewal. Both human and flower the heroine, Black Orchid, undertakes a hazardous journey to uncover her true origins, providing a moving ecological parable for our times. This work by Gaiman and Mckean is an early showcase for the talent we know today.

Hellblazer: Original Sins

Title: Hellblazer
Genre: Horror
Story: Jamie Delano
Art: John Ridgway, Alfredo Alcala
Publisher: DC Comics
Issues/Pages: Hellblazer issues 1-9
Year: 1988
Rate: 91/100

PROMO: John Constantine is an unconcerned, somewhat amoral occultist with a British working-class background. He's a hero, of sorts, who manages to come out on top through a combination of luck, trickery, and genuine magical skill. The ORIGINAL SINS collection is a loosely connected series of tales of John's early years where Constantine was at his best and at his worst, all at the same time.

The graphic novel that inspired the hit movie V FOR VENDETTA is a powerful story about loss of freedom and individuality.Set in a futuristic totalitarian England, a country without political freedom, personal freedom and precious little faith in anything,a mysterious man in a white porcelain mask fights political oppressors through terrorism and seemingly absurd acts. It's a gripping tale of the blurred lines between ideological good and evil.

Planetary

Title: Planetary
Genre: Superhero
Story: Warren Ellis
Art: John Cassaday
Publisher: Wildstorm (imprint of DC Comics)
Issues/Pages: 1-27 of 27
Year: 1998-2009
Rate: 94/100

PROMO: "Provocative , eminently addictive, and top of its class."— ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLYThe creator of the acclaimed series TRANSMETROPOLITAN, Warren Ellis delivers PLANETARY, hailed as a timeless story that turned modern superhero conventions on their heads. This graphic novel features the adventures of Elijah Snow, a hundred-year-old man, Jakita Wagner, an extremely powerful woman, and The Drummer, a man with the ability to communicate with machines. Tasked with tracking down evidence of super-human activity, these mystery archaeologists uncover unknown paranormal secrets and histories, such as a World War II supercomputer that can access other universes, a ghostly spirit of vengeance, and a lost island of dying monsters.

Sve to odrađeno i više nego vrhunski.

WE3

Title: WE3
Story: Grant Morrison
Art: Frank Quitely
Publisher: Vertigo (DC Comics)
Issues: 1-3, complete
Year: 2004.
Rate: 10

PROMO: Writer Grant Morrison and artist Frank Quitely tell the unforgettable story of three innocent pets-a dog, a cat and a rabbit-who have been converted into deadly cyborgs by a sinister military weapons program.

REVIEW: Pas, mačka i zec, nekada voljeni, onda oteti, modifikovani, iskvareni - kućni ljubimci pretvoreni u nemilosrdne, bazičnim instinktima vođene ubice.
dirljiva, oh, do suza dirljiva, priča o svom zverstvu modernog doba, o ratu, o biološkom naoružanju, o upotrebi znanja i nauke u potpuno pogrešne svrhe, o iskorišćavanju onih koji nas jako i bezuslovno vole...
Izuzetno!
